Après ses études, il entre dans la maison de disques Uptown Records où il est chargé de découvrir de nouveaux talents. Il s'acquitte parfaitement bien de cette t che et révèle, entre autre, Mary J. Blige et Jodeci. En 1993, Puff Daddy fonde sa propre maison de production et travaille avec bon nombre d'artistes connus comme Mariah Carey. En 1997, Puff Daddy décide de montrer de quoi il est capable quand il passe de l'autre c té du micro et il enregistre son premier album "No Way Out " qui fera un carton outre-atlantique notamment gr ce au titre "I ll Be Missing You " vibrant hommage à son pote Notorious BIG. Puff Daddy prend go t à son nouveau métier et revient en 1999 avec un nouvel album "Forev...
